This is a very rough translation and annotation of the poem 欒家瀨 (Luán Jiā Lài), ‘Luan Family Rapids’, by the Tang Dynasty Chinese poet 王維 (Wáng Wéi).

欒家瀨 Luán Jiā Lài [Luan] [family] [rapids] Luan Family Rapids

颯颯秋雨中, Sàsà qiū yǔ zhōng, [swish] [swish] [autumn] [rain] [in] In swishing, swishing autumn rain,

淺淺石溜瀉。 jiān jiān shí liū xiè. [trickle] [trickle] [stone] [slip] [slide] trickling, trickling, stones slip and slide.

跳波自相濺, Tiào bō zì xiāng jiàn, [jump] [wave] [self] [each other] [splash] Jumping waves splash into themselves and each other;

白鷺驚復下。 báilù jīng fù xià. [white] [egret] [startle] [return] [descend] a white egret is startled, and comes back down.
