So this happened:
It’s a Venn diagram labeled “men” (that I’ve translated into Chinese, perhaps badly). The categories work as follows:
- handsome + nice: stupid
- nice + intelligent: nerd
- handsome + intelligent: arrogant
- handsome + nice + intelligent: gay
English original is here.
It is quite good fun (especially when you realise you must be gay, as I did. Sorry girls). But then you’ve got to admit it could also be quite offensive, reverse-bigotry is still bigotry after all.
Is it in bad taste or just a light-hearted joke?

It’s a truth… I’m not the only girl with a gay best friend for those same reasons :)
Due to the scarcity of this combination (handsome + nice + intelligent), even if you see one, you’ll feel it’s too good to be true. Perfect person doesn’t exist in today’s world, does it? So “he” must be a gay, even if you meet one, you won’t get one. :-)
The original was written by George Takei, who is gay. Not sure if that makes it acceptable though..
No one is perfect that is for sure. However, I do have some friends with very nice characteristics and they are not gay.
